Diethyl Priopion (Tenuate) Gave Me the Start I Needed

I was prescribed the generic form of Tenuate by my doctor after a life-long struggle (I'm a 59-year-old woman, fairly sedentary) with losing and regaining weight. It immediately and drastically reduced my appetite with no discernible side effects.
I lost 30 pounds in about 4 months and 18 more in the next four, going from 212 pounds and a size 18-20 to 164 and a size 12-14. Some days I was hungrier than others, but I had two or three breakfasts and lunches that I continued to choose from, and found that I was full enough most of the time.
Once I was full, continuing to eat had no appeal, which was a first for me! I had had success at Weight Watcher's when I was in my 20's so I kept their guidelines in mind and tried to stay around 1300 calories a day. Knowing that nighttime snacking was my downfall, I made sure to allow for a snack chosen from several limited choices (a cup of WW ice cream, an italian ice, a small bag of microwave popcorn).
I tried to live in the real world and ate pizza (two slices with a large salad) on occasion and a child's order of spaghetti at my favorite restaurant, with no bread and my one glass of wine a week,as well as most foods I craved, the drug giving me the ability to limit the amounts.
The drug actually gave me some immediate success that was very encouraging and was something I could build on when it no longer worked as well as it did in the beginning.
I would add that several co-workers tried it and found that it had little effect for them. I am trying to lose a little more now on my own and use how happy and healthy I feel now to keep the weight off.
