A lot of people these days fast because they want to lose weight; they use a type of fasting called intermittent fasting, which is fasting for a short period of time, usually 24 hours. The theory of intermittent fasting is that while you are fasting, the fat-burning enzymes are heightened, and on a short period of fasting, your metabolism is actually increased rather than decreased.


Anyone can try the intermittent fasting diet in order to reach their desired weight. One of the things that’s beneficial to this type of diet is that it can be highly adaptable by anyone wanting to lose weight. It can easily be added to the lifestyle and work schedule, and so it’s perfect for a busy, stressed-out person. And not only is it convenient, it is also one of the easiest and most effective weight-loss methods around.

The diet can also be an effective, lifelong maintenance measure for your weight control and well-being. If you are fasting periodically, it can be extremely easy to drop a few pounds even if you continue eating junk food, but of course, that does not mean you should abuse the privilege. When on this diet, you must also eat a healthy and balanced diet along with exercise to speed up your weight loss. Numerous dieters have lost weight easier when taking on the intermittent fasting as opposed to other diets they’ve tried.

There are many benefits to fasting. One of the best benefits is there are decreased levels of insulin of the blood, which lowers the risk of diabetes. And the gradual increase of growth hormone production leads to the growth of lean muscle mass. With intermittent fasting, you can fast only once every few days. That will give you the energy you need for your workouts. In fact, it can actually help you increase the body's metabolism speed, and it can also increase energy levels.

Another advantage to fasting is that it helps in cleaning out your body. If you only drink water for a whole day, your body will remove all of the harmful toxins that come from your normal diet. By removing these toxins, you lose weight at a faster rate and you will feel better while fasting. Other benefits of fasting include increased fat loss, increase of epinephrine and norepinephrine which helps manage your blood sugar levels during fasting, decreased chronic inflammation, and decreased blood glucose levels.

There are many ways to apply the intermittent fasting diet in your daily life. Weight loss depends on how many calories you take in. If you have a smaller window of eating, you can eat larger and even more satisfying meals. One schedule example you can follow is fasting for 16 to 19 hours, depending on the time you get hungry. You can try daily fasting where you fast for only a period of the day or just reduce the consumption of food in a day, but when doing this style of fasting, you should not eat constantly during the time when you eat. There are other popular ways of fasting that you can try for yourself, like one to two 24-hour fasts a week and alternate-day fasting.


For most people who have tried it, intermittent fasting has been the key to ending a vicious cycle with food. Your first reaction after starting an intermittent fasting diet might be that you wish you discovered this diet years ago. You will probably notice that there will be a change in your appetite since you will not be craving junk foods that much anymore and that you will feel satisfied with less food than before.

There are two main reasons this diet works. One is that if there is little or no food present inside your body, the burning of stored fat is more likely to happen because if your blood contains only a small amount of fat, protein, or sugar, the body itself can be forced to utilize your stored energy sources. These sources are most likely found in the fats stored within the cells. Another source of energy can be found in the carbohydrates retained in the muscles and liver. By simply missing a meal or avoiding food for a day or so, it is likely that you can get rid of a large amount of fat.

Another reason that the diet works is that fasting is an easy way of cutting calories without giving up entirely the foods you love. Though it might be confusing, by skipping one or two daily meals, you can sharply cut your normal caloric intake for any given day. Also, provided you do not overindulge in the meals you do eat, you can have some of your favorite foods and you will still have eaten fewer calories in total for the period.

A common point argued by most people is that once you're hungry, your metabolism kicks in, but in reality, this is not true. When you feel hungry, it has nothing to do with your metabolism. Having small meals instead of the regular meals that you eat in a day may or may not be for you. When dieters feel satisfied about themselves on a certain diet, they will likely stay on the same diet plan.

It is truly necessary to get in touch with your body when you feel hungry. A little hunger is not harmful, and it will not kill you because our bodies are capable of going a short period of time without food. It is nothing to be panicked or fearful about. One reason intermittent fasting works well is that we give our digestive system a break from constantly working.

Intermittent fasting is an incredible way to lose fat and at the same time get in good physical shape. One of the biggest problems with fasting for weight loss is that some people generate misinformation from those said to be experts, especially from those on the Internet in forums or blogs.

The problem with reading information online is that everyone is considered an expert, even though they may not be. However, according to some people who have tried intermittent fasting, this never happened to them. In fact, it was the exact opposite and those people had impressive results in losing fat and maintaining muscle at the same time.
