Jennifer Lopez diet plan has always been simple, watch your portions and workout regularly in the gym. It has worked fine for her for years until she got pregnant. You will agree with me that the formerly curvey Jenny from the Block is not as curvacious. Infact after giving birth to her twins, she is back only much skinner. She is rummoured to have lost as much as 50 pounds of baby fat.

The secret to Jennifer Lopez diet success is the diet regiment by a french doctor Dr Pierre Dukan, the now popular Dukan Diet. She however does admit to struggling losing the last 20 lbs. And that she had to make changes in her diet. Evidently she gas a liking for bread which happens to be black listed in most diets including Dukan's.

These kinds of huge weight losses are often achieved with an intricate diet and exercises approach. And to tell you the truth, at times we do make it harder than it really should be. For example, if you want to lose belly fat you need to ignore calories. Infact you need to "Go Beyond Calories" and focus on two things, just two things. Previously, Jenny's diet as a weight loss diet was really an anecdotal celebrity diets.

Jennifer Lopez has been one of the celebrities who you rarely see fluctuating between wide ranges of weight. She has been able to retain her curvaceous self quite consistently, no wonder the interest in her dieting habits. 

And this is despite emotions turmoil's brought about by relationships from Sean Combs "Puff Daddy", to the secret marriage to Mark Anthony. And now a seeming imminent divorce to her childrens father (Mark Anthony) seven years later.

Often such emotional upheavals are a cause for emotional eating and consequent weight change as seen with Linsay Lohan and Anna Nicole Smith. However like Lindsay Lohan diet and unlike Anna Nicole Smith weight loss, the diet was not documented... until now.

Jennifer Lopez Diet - the Dukan Diet

The Dukan diet is fast weight loss strategy that Pierre, it creator, caution people with a healthy weight from using. 

It is designed to help one to quickly lose excess body weight over a short period of time.

The Dukan method consists of 4 main phases.

Attack Phase: This is  short phase of a high protein diet targeted to lose you alot of weight fast. It is mean to give you some immediate results for motivation.

Cruise Phase: This follows that attack phase and involves alternating a high protein diet with  proteins and vegatables. 

Consolidation Phase: This phase constitutes 10 days for each kilogram or two pounds of weight lost. So if you have lost 10 pounds you follow this phase for 50 days. It is meant to prepare you to come back to a normal but balnced diet. This is where you startt introducing some carbs to your diet.

Stabilization Phase:  This stage is meant to be a lifestyle. Oat bran is a daily staple and you will have a high protein diet every week. 

 

The diet has alot of similariites to Atkin's Diet but it is evn more restrictive espaicially in the first phase. It does ease out by allowing carbs in the last stages.Evidently the plan worked pretty well for J'Lo.

But even before the twins, J'Lo has not been one with weight issues. And though there was no exact weight loss diet that one could identify, we can stich one up from her interviews and comments she makes about her beauty, health and fitness. 

Her lifestyle seems to be highly supportive of a healthy weight. This is the only way to get results you can keep.

J'Lo is reported to say "I don’t drink, ever, and I don’t smoke and don’t do drugs".And as much as this is a good thing for a celebrity to say to her fans, it is also a lifestyle that helps in successful management of weight. 

Although alcohol has not exactly been scientifically tied to weight gain there are strong indications that it is associated with an increased waist to hip ratio. The waist hip ratio is a proven health indicator of heart disease and insulin resistance. Waist Hip Ratio is one of the leading weight loss tools

You should know that alcohol though not a carbohydrate does contain seven (7) calories per gram. This is nearly twice as much as carbohydrate (4 calorie/gram) and nearly equal to fat (9 calories/gram). 

To make matters worse when alcohol is consumed it is used as the first body fuel instead of carbohydrates. This encourage carbohydrate to be stored as body fat and also prevent fat oxidation as fat burning which is a necessity in losing weight. 

So if you are managing your weight or trying to lose, alcohol in whatever form, is best kept to a minimum or eliminated altogether. Similarly smoking is generally counter intuitive of weight loss exercises necessary in both weight loss management and weight loss itself.


Jennifer Lopez's Previous Weight Loss Habits

J Lo' as Lopez is fondly referred to by her fans, was not exactly into the "diet" thing before she gained gobs of body fat during her pregnacy. She was more into a balanced body, mind and spirit. As such a wise choice of diets, complimented with an active lifestyle as well as therapeutic treatments like massages and spa treatment was more of her thing. 

She confessed she ate nearly anything but watched her portion. This resonates with what Oprah’s weight loss plan notes, that it’s not "one piece of anything (that) will kill you it’s the seconds, and third’s and fourths that become the problem". However, she adds that she does indulge once in a while. 

Jennifer Lopez who is a musician, actress, song-writer and fashion designer is an impressive rage to riches story having been raised in the Bronx, New York. She refers to herself in one of her hit songs as "Jenny from the block". She evidently doesn’t seem to have a lot of issues with her genes unlike other celebrities whose bodys’ tend towards being fat easily. But she does point out though, that whenever there is need to cut weight she cuts back on carbohydrates from her diet. 

Reducing carbs in a diet is now even used in mainstream diets for weights loss. Significantly dropping carb intake as well as changing types of carbs from processed to whole carbs, allow for calorie deficit that is necessary to induce fat burning and consequent weight loss. 

In terms of exercising, Jenny confesses she is not as active as she used to be in her younger days. She has a trainer, like many other famous people and also has taken up yoga classes. Her exercise regime includes circuit training. 

Circuit training is a very effective weight loss exercise as it targets fat burning and at the same time preserves your lean muscle tissue. It involves a short period of strength training quickly followed by a short burst of aerobic exercise. The cycle is repeated severally. 

As noted, Jennifer Lopez doesn’t seem to have a problematic body type. Her dietary habits then can easily throw off one who has a mesomophic body type and looking at Jennifer Lopez diet as a solution. It is indicative, however, of a sustainable diet for weight loss management after a successful weight loss. 

When it comes to losing body fat permanently you will always have to "Go Beyond Calories".
