Mater
Cleanse for weight loss has been popularized by Peter
Glickman
with the publication of his book "Lose
Weight, Have More Energy &
Be Happier in 10 Days". It
is important to note however, that the master cleanse is not exactly a
diet. It is actually a detox protocol.
The protocol is actually a liquid fasting and cleansing regime that is
used to detoxify, eliminate diseases and supposedly provoke your body
to healthier eating habits. The premise of the detox is that over the
course of the ten days, the body will begin to heal itself and
eradicate diseases because it no longer needs to concentrate its
energies towards digestion. Fat loss was just one of the benefits hence
master cleanse weight loss diet.
The protocol is attributed to Stanley Burroughs. Though there claims to
similar protocols as early as 1930’s, Burroughs officially
published the protocol in 1976 titled The Master Cleanser. He is
believed to have used it to manage and even cure patients with ulcers
and other intestinal problems.
Master Cleanse weight loss
Many regular people have claimed to have lost weight using the
protocol, but even more intriguing is that amongst these claims are
further claims that they have been able to keep the weight off. So the
question is how much weight can you lose with the regime, and can you
really keep it off?
Beyonce
Knowles the famous celebrity pop star has said she has lost 15
pounds in just 10 days using master cleanse.
However
she admits she
gained all the weight back soon after.
Robin Quiver an assistant of Howard Stern is reported to have heard
about the diet from the stunt master David Blane. She is said to have
used it to lose 73 pound.
She
has been able to keep it off.
Why the discrepancy?
First and foremost permanent weight loss is really a change in
lifestyle.
However
a lot goes into sustaining such a lifestyle but
chief among them is managing your food choices.
Master cleanse is a 10 day liquid diet of fresh lemon juice, with maple
syrup and cayenne pepper.
A
class of this lemonade diet will give you
about 100 to 120 calories per glass.
The
daily serving will give you
between 600 calories to 1200 calories per day.
It goes without saying that such a low calorie intake will result to
weight loss.
However there is a difference between weight loss and fat loss. Weight
loss occurs regardless of the body tissue you lose. So in weight loss,
you can lose water, body fat or even muscle tissue and you will
register success.
With fat loss, you will need to target only body fat. And to lose body
fat, especially belly fat, you need to stop focusing on calories. Instead you need to Go
Beyond Calories. You need to Go Beyond Calories and focus on two
things, just two things. Watch the video below to see these two things.
That been said however there is a theory about toxins and fat loss.
Though not unilaterally accepted, science has been able to show that
fat cells in your body are used to store toxins. When you ingest more
toxins than your body can safely eliminate, it send them into
fat cells as a protective measure.
This avoids toxin from floating around your system freely. Hopefully
your body will get to deal with them gradually. Unfortunately, if the
rate of ingestion is faster than the rate of elimination you actually
accumulate toxins in your fat tissue.
So not only is your fat tissue a sort of energy, it now becomes also a
protector. It is protecting the body fro m toxins.
Such fat cells have been indicated to be very difficult to lose. This
is because the body has to chose between getting energy and at the same
time poisoning it self versus protecting it self. It seems too often
choose to protect itself by hanging onto fat.
Detox programs like master cleanse will tend to deal with some level of
toxins and waste which will free fat cells from the toxins making them
available for use as energy.
This is believed to be the primary means by which master cleanse helps
in weight loss.
Anecdotal evidence is pointing toward the master cleanse helping your
body to reset its systems as it eliminates toxins. After the fast, it
often hat you will find that previous cravings for unhealthy foods have
gone. This reset can greatly contribute to a change in lifestyle very
fats, making it possible to have long term results.
Caution
However, we do need to be cautious. Some have tried master cleanse for
weight loss and ended up with even more craving. Others lose and regain
it all back.
Many times the reason for this can be attributed to not following the
original master cleanse protocol to a tee.
There are so many variations
and adaptations to the protocol that can erase the likely benefit of
the regime. Such include taking soups, vegetables and supplements
during their detox.
The original master cleanse seems to work better for weight loss than all the
other variations. And if you want to lose weight with it, this is how
you do it...
