Phen-Pro
Weight Loss is a
doctor only co-adminstration of both Phentermine and Prozac in low
doses
(or a similar anti-depressant like Trazadone) for purposes of weight
loss.Though
phentermine is effective in losing you weight it does loss its
effectiveness in a few weeks. Prozac has been found to prolong the
weight loss effect of phentermine, hence the cocktail.
Phen-pro
weight loss has been proposed as a replacement of the effective but
lethal Phen-Fen/Dexfen-Phen
that was withdrawn from the U.S market.
Strictly
speaking, adjuncts like phen-pro
weight loss
should only be attempted by qualified physicians. This
is unlike diet
supplements which you can use
off the shelf.
The
phen-pro combination is mainly a suggestion by Dr Michael Anchors
who published a book in 1997 titled 'Safer than
Phen-Fen'. He
is schooled in Harvard University, with a PHD
in biochemistry. And
just like its predecessor, phen-pro is supposed to
reduce the side effects of phentermine while increasing its potency for
weight loss.
The
suggested anti-depresants like Prozac are chemically called
fluoxentine. Dr.
Anchor has a particular preference for the
antidepressant brand name Trazodone. He
notes both Trazadone and Prozac
are widely researched and hence their effect more predictable.
Like
many, we are not too enthusiastic about weight loss drugs. But at times
one might need an esy way to lose weight. As an alternative we would
recomend Caralluma. It is a strong yet
safe natural diet pill that works for most people.
But
if you want to lose belly fat fast, easily and permanetly you need to
start ignoring calories. Infact you need to "Go Beyond
Calories" and focus on two things, just two things.
Watch this short video below to see these two things...
And
though fluoxentine is an FDA approved drug, it is indicated as an
antidepressant. Its
use in weight loss is what is referred to as
"off-label".
There
is little control bodies like FDA can do when doctors choose to
combine two different approved drugs as in the case of phentermine and
fluoxentine.
Often
to deal with a critical situation the FDA usually
has to remove the less important drug from the market. This is what
happened with Phen-Fen and Dexfen-Phen. Fenfluramine and
its related drug Dexfenfluramine were removed from the market to
counter the lethal cocktail.
However
if Phen-Pro proves to be as dangerous as phen-fen, it may be a
little hard to deal with. Both phentermine and Prozac (fluoxentine) are
important drugs for their approved use i.e. anorectic (weight loss) and
antidepressant (mood management) respectively. Both drugs are shown to
be relatively safe, but the effect of their combination is still
unknown. They will probably depend on the strict adherence to the
labels instructions by doctors.
Phen-Pro Weight Loss Action
Phentermine, the phen in phen-pro is a
longtime
anorectic or weight
loss medication. It stimulates the central nervous system to
increase the levels of neurotransmitters, particularly dopamine and
norepinephrine in the brain. These brain chemicals or messenger then
cause a decrease of appetite by their action in the part of the brain
called hypothalamus.
Prozac,
the other end of phen-pro is an antidepressant, the drug
fluoxentin. Similar drugs include Zoloft, Celexa, Trazadone and
Effoxer. These are also central nervous system stimulants, only this
time unlike the withdrawn fenfluramine, it is a neurotransmitter
re-uptake inhibitor only.
Neurotransmitters
are chemicals secreted by nerve cells and picked by
receptor on the surface of other cells. This is the means by which
nerve send messages across the body. Once the message is received the
neurotransmitter is destroyed or absorbed into the cell that produced
it. This absorption is what is termed as re-uptake.
Basically
when re-uptake is inhibited, the neurotransmitter sending
that particular message increases in the brain. This amplifies as well
as sustains the message. This increase is what results to an increased
feeling of satiety and mood changes you get from drugs that inhibit
re-uptake.
Fluoxentine
(Prozac) like fenfluramine(Fen) raises the level of
serotonin; one of the neurotransmitter (brain messengers) associated
with satiety. So the question is, if Prozac acts just like Fen will it
not results to the same problems?
Michael
Anchors, an ardent proponent of phen-pro explains, "One reason
lies in the way fenfluranine effects the amounts of serotonin in the
body. Instead of inhibiting the absorption of serotonin (only) the way
phentermine does with dopamine and norepinephrine, fenfluranine causes
more serotonin to be released. This raise in serotonin is not well
controlled as it is with Trazadone or Prozac (fluoxentine)"
"Another
reason is that fenfluramine mobilizes serotonin in the
platelets; special blood cells that are involved in clotting. Because
of this there is a dangerous excess of serotonin in the lungs and
heart"
This
toxic level of serotonin in blood is implicated in incidences of
heart valve disease and Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH) with the
use of phen-fen.
Proposed
dosage of the cocktail is phentermine at 30gm and fluoxentine
at 10-20mg. Metering of this dosage is important for results. So your
doctor should monitor your side effect and results so that the dosage
can be adjusted for optimal performance.
It
is suggested that this cocktail is able to minimize the side effects
of either drugs resulting to a more comfortable use as well as an
increase in weight loss.
According
to a study funded by Eli-Lilly the inventors of Prozac,
phen-pro results to 15% weight loss of total body weight in 9 months.
This is much better than the FDA approved weight loss drugs sibutramine weight loss
and orlistat weight loss.
In the study, the patients did not show evidence of heart problems,
meaning it seems phen-pro doesn’t have the side effect of
heart valve disease or PPH.
The
use of weight loss drugs to support the
morbidly obese is a strategy recommended cautiosly by health
institutions. As an
alternative we recommend Caralluma as a safe natural weight loss
diet supplement.
But
when it comes to losing belly fat fast, easily and permanetly you
should ultimatelly ignore calories. The truth is that you need to "Go
Beyond Calories" to lose belly fat fast, easily and permanently. You
need to "Go Beyond Calories" and focus on two things, just two things.
