A six pack abs exercise is not necessarily an abs or abdominal exercises. As opposed to what many people believe and practice six pack exercises do not have to target your core only.

Unlike ab targeting exercises, a six pack abs exercise routine has a different purpose. Any workouts that target your core, particularly your abdominal muscle intends to develop that particular muscle group. However an 6 pack abs workout is aimed at "unveiling" your six pack.

When you blood sugar is low and stable and therefore hormone insulin low and stable, you body is  in a conducive state of using fat as the primary source of energy rather than using sugar.

If in this state, you elevate growth hormone (GH) your body naturally switches on its fat burning capabilities and focuses on using fat instead of sugar as the main source of energy in your body.

One primary ways of boosting GH in your body is using exercises. But here is where you need to be careful, because not all excises activate and elevate your GH. Some exercises do, others like cardio donot. So a six pack workout routine should only include exercises that do elevate GH.

The second premise of losing fat using exercises is elevated "muscle activity" that tends to keep metabolism elevated a day or two after a six pack workout. When balanced out with an effective abs diet, this slight increase in metabolism result to huge fat loss over a week.
