How
to lose love handles - the exercise myth

I’m
sorry but Yuri Elkaim, the guy in the video, is right. Infact this myth
of burning fat from
particular spots on your body like belly fat, fat on thighs, buttocks
and yes even love handles is called spot reduction. Unfortunately, spot
reduction is considered a fallacy by most experts.
Body fat distribution
is determined by a hormonal and genetic predisposition. The muscles
beneath them like abdominal and oblique muscles beneath love handles
donot determine if the fat sits there or is burnt up and used as
energy. This is determined by genes and hormones.
This is the
implication, you can do all the crunches you want but your hormones and
genetic might decide to supply the energy for those crunches from the
fat deposits in your underarms. So much for getting ready for the
beach, huh.
Even more
intriguing is that where your body starts to deposit fat first is
usually the last place to lose fat. So if you find that you start
gaining weight around your hips, the thighs then followed by getting a
fat belly, the guess what; when you start losing weight, the tummy will
go first, then the thighs then finaly the hips.
Luckily for most
of us, love handles are rarely the first place we deposit fat. At least
you donot have to completely lose excess weight to lose those love
handles.
Elkaim gives three
steps you can use to burn huge amounts of weight and as a result lose
the love handles. These are
- Get a full body work out
because this will burn huge amount of calories and hence burn more
fat
- For fast weight loss
use interval training which alternates between high intensity and low
intensity spurts of activity.
- Get a fat burning diet.
As he note correctly, you can never out train a bad diet.
Even among
professional body builders and fitness models, they know that their
physique is 80% diet and 20% training
(exercises). Get the wrong diet and you will be working a
treadmill never getting sustainable results.
Unfortunately diets are another
jungle to tackle. Many work just for a while, then you regain all the
weight and some. Others are accompanied with an everlasting hungers,
other result to craving, headaches and/or lack of energy.
