Walking Backwards To Lose Weight

Why walking backwards could help you lose weight

Walking backwards could probably help you lose weight in a long around about way. This is inspite Obaid Karki, the guy in the video saying it will not. It will not by itself lose you lose 10 pounds in a month but combined with a diet plan like  "Go Beyond Calories" (And Lose Belly Fat Permanetly)  it can lose you those 10 pounds in less than two weeks.

However Karki does bring to focus a very significant perspective to the usual recommendation of “walk daily to lose weight”. And that has to do with the effect that walking and has on our body structure, particularly the knees.

Walking strains knees, hips, the feet as well as the heel. And to add to the fact that walking will not dent your excess body fat leaves the question, is walking to lose weight worth it?

The answer can be yes, if you are walking backwards.

Walking backwards seems to combine the advantage of normal walking plus other benefits while negating the disadvantages of normal walking. For example, walking backwards relieves joints and yet it boost metabolism by as much as 40% higher than walking forward.

But walking backward is nothing new really. It has been practiced for fitness by the Japanese for years. It is proven to be good for your hips, legs as well as the trunk. Not to mention that 100 steps backward are often equated to 1000 steps forward. And according to the video 1000 steps backwards would put you in the active lifestyle group. While at 1000 steps forward you considered sedentary.

For it to be effective you need to walk backward exactly opposite to how you walk forward. That is to mean, instead of the heel touching the ground first, the toes do. And instead of bending your knees you keep the straight and easy. This posture completely relieves your joins, while building the hamstring (back thigh muscles) calves and glutes (buttock muscles)

An interesting benefit mentioned in the video is the improvement of vision. Though not guaranteed, walking backwards call upon your senses in way your brain id not used to. This is because you are not used to balancing while walking backwards. And for balance you body often uses your ears and eyes. It seems the improvement of auditory and visual ability results from this increased and unusual reliance of these functions. Frequently walking backwards for a long period of time can literally somewhat correct poor vision and hearing.

In addition, from a weight watchers perspective, walking backwards makes you exert more in a short period of time therefore acquiring the benefits of exercising in less time.

However as we always mention, weight loss exercises can only be as effective as the accompanying fat loss diet.  "Go Beyond Calories" (And Lose Belly Fat Permanetly)  is a diet plan that can even get you results with minimal exercising like walking backwards.
