This hormone is associated with elevated metabolism as ell as the breakdown of body fat into fatty acid. These fatty acids are then released into the blood and become available for use as energy. Resistance training exerts your muscles leading to a condition called protein turnover. This is a state in your body where your proteins particularly muscles are being broken down and then built again. This process lead to promotion of GH which helps in the process of building up the muscles again.

This process is so energy intensive that your body metabolism is raised significantly. Your metabolism can stay elevated for 24 to 48 hrs after such a workout.
