    Due to this factors you will find that body fat seems to resist being used up. Weight loss cardios are meant to position your body system to target for metabolism by increasing the availability of oxygen during exercising. 

    This has led to a nation of what it commonly referred to as the “fat burning zone”. Fat burning zone is supposedly the pace of an exercise at which the primary source of energy is fat. Any faster you start using glucose, any slower you are not optimizing on fat metabolism. The zone exists when you are performing an exercise routine at a pace at which the oxygen you are breathing in is sufficient to allow for fat to provide the necessary energy. 

    Some quarters have misgivings about targeting the “fat burning zone” because they consider that it may use up mainly fat but the total calories of fat used up is significantly lower. 

    Here is an example; walking a 20 minute mile on flat ground for 30 minutes may burn 100 calories for a person weighing 150 pounds. Of these calories a comfortable 80% is fat. This means you burn about 80 calories of fat and 20% of carbohydrates. 

    On the other hand, a vigorous running 8-minute a mile for 30 minutes will burn 446 calories. Of this only 30% approximately 135 calories are from fat. But you will notice that by running you are way off the “fat burning zone” and hence demand more energy from carbohydrates. Yet you have cranked out more fat than walking.

This is because it can play an important role for those who were previously sedentary or de-conditioned.
