Weight Loss Information: Contradictions and counter claims
The lack of proper weight loss information is an underlying problem in
the growing obesity epidemic. What is even surprising is that it is not
exactly in the physical lack of information. The information exist;
rather it is the lack of comprehensive, complete holistic yet
individualized weight loss information which is free of contradictions,
claims and counter claims.
Middle age begins
in the middle 30s and ends in the late 50s.
When you are in this age bracket and are
overweight, you need to choose between losing weight or suffering all
possible
consequences of obesity. Earlier
studies
show that belly fat poses harmful effect for the brain in later life
and causes
a higher mortality rate.
Middle-age obesity
can cause you to develop dementia later
in life. The most common is Alzheimer’s disease, vascular
dementia or other
types of dementia diseases. About 80 percent of those people who were
diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s disease have been determined to have been
overweight during
their middle-age bracket. As of the moment, experts do not exactly know
the
reason why obesity would lead to dementia.
To avoid this
mental decline later in life, it is advised to
lose weight because research shows that a controlled weight during this
age
bracket reduces the risk of dementia. Exercise is one of the most
influential
factors in reducing weight. The lack of exercise is being linked to
obesity and
depression, thus leading to memory problems.
A person may know
if he qualifies as obese when his Body
Mass Index (BMI) is 30 or higher. BMI can be calculated through
dividing the
weight in kilogram by height in meter square. About 20 to 40 percent of
overweight people die earlier because of diseases related to their
being obese
or overweight.
Studies show that
almost 50 percent of obese individuals have
cancer. Cancer is
the most common
disease an overweight person might have at the age ranges of 50 or
above, or
even younger. An obese woman has a higher risk of cancer of the
reproductive
system because the fats in the body will aid the increase of estrogen
in the
blood.
The fats in the
body will also increase the production of
insulin in the blood that triggers the growth of the cancerous cells.
An obese
individual is also exposed to acid reflux that is related to esophageal
cancer
and the fast development of cancer cells.
Aside from
stimulating the fast development of cancer cells,
the danger of being obese is the slim chance of detecting the cancer at
an
early stage. The lumps are less likely to be detected as tumors and are
difficult
to remove because of the fats that cover most areas in the body. The
treatment is
also terribly difficult because of the need to adjust the doses of
radiation
and chemotherapy.
The only option of
someone with middle-age obesity is to
lose weight. The change of lifestyle is particularly relevant to be
able to
achieve a normal BMI. A normal BMI reduces the risk of cancer and leads
to longer
life. There is a need to change the eating habits of the obese and to
have
regular exercise to improve mental strength.
The reason is that,
the majority of those who were diagnosed
to have dementia are obese people who are in their mid life. Therefore
it is
necessary to closely watch your diet and have consistent exercise to
maintain
the BMI at a normal level.
