Weight Loss – marketed as ADIPEX®
Adipex weight loss is manufactured by Gate Pharmaceuticals a division
of Tera Pharmaceuticals. U.S.A. It is one of the weight loss pills with
several generics which include Obenix, Oby-Trim, Phentercoat, Phentride
and Pro-Fast. This particular diet pill is a prescription pill. Ionamin
Weight Loss – marketed as IONAMIN®
Ionamin weight loss pill is manufactured by Medeva Pharmaceutical. It
is available as a capsule of 15mg and 30mg of the resin complex
formulation. Resin complex alone for slower and sustained release of
the active ingredients. The clinical significant of sustained release
as opposed to an instant release tablet like that used in Ionamin
weight loss is not known.
Meridia Weight Loss
– marketed as MERIDIA®
The Meridia weight loss is manufactured by Knoll pharmaceutical company
in the U.S. Meridia diet pill is available as a capsule of 5mg, 10mg
and15mg. It is administered through the mouth (orally). It is usually
prescribed to be taken with or without food and usually in the morning
hours.
Xenical Weight Loss
– marketed as XENICAL®
Xenical weight loss is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceutical in the U.S.
Xenical diet pill is available as a capsule. It contains a preparation
of 120mg of the chemical orlistat. The drug is administered orally
together with food, one capsule for each meal. It you forget to take
your dose with food, you can take it within one hour of the meal.
Otherwise the drug will not be effective.
Phentermine
Weight Loss – marketed as PHENTERCOAT etc
Phentermine weight loss pills are manufactured as generic by a number
of pharmaceutics. However the brand name ie Adipex and lomonin are
manufactured by Gate Pharmaceutical and Medeva Pharmaceutical
respectively. Phentermine is available in a capsule or tablet
containing 37.5mg of Phentermine Hydrochloride. This is the equivalent
of 30mg of phentermine. It is administered orally.
Tenute
Weight Loss – marketed as TENUATE DOSPAN
Tenuate is available in different brand including Tenuate Dospan which
is a sustained release, Tepanil Thin Tab and Tentab. Like most diet
drugs, tenuate weight loss is a short term adjuct to a comprehensive
weight loss program. Usually it is either in one dose per day or two
smaller doses per day
Bontril
Weight Loss – marketed as BONTRIL (SR)
The branded bontril weight loss diet drug is manufactured by Carnrick
laboratories. Like all other anorectics, bontril should be used
together with a calorie reduced diet and on exercise program. Take the
drug 50 minutes to one hour before meals and about 4-6 hour before bed
time for the last dose.
Wellbutrin
Weight
Loss – marketed as WELBUTRIN XL®
Wellbutrin XL is manufactured by Glaxo Smithkline and dit is approved
as an anti-depresant. For weight loss the dosage reported for Welbutrin
are 400mg/day and 300mg/day during 24 weeks. Wellbutrin showed an
extent of dose dependant effect in weight loss.
Didrex
Weight Loss – marketed as DIDREX®
Didrex weight loss is manufactured by Pfizer Inc. Didrex weight loss is
recommended for short term use as on adjunct in a weight loss plan. The
diet should explicitly target reduced calorie intake.
